This website was set up in 2008 to showcase research into Industrial Archaeology in the Tamar Valley, which straddles East Cornwall and West Devon, in the South-West of England.

Ranked among the finest in South West England, Torquay Museum is a journey of discovery for all ages.

This year the Museum joins many other organisations in celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin - one of the world's most creative and influential thinkers.

Our four brand new galleries are now open - with 2,000+ objects from our world cultures, archaeology, maritime and local history collections on display. Items from our natural history, fine art and decorative art and human history collections are also on display throughout our main building.

The Old Plymouth Society has existed since 1929, but in 1992 we experienced a rebirth, with changes in structure and a greatly increased membership, and became a local history society whose aims are "to promote interest and research into, and the preservation of, the heritage of the City of Plymouth".
